The Angélica and Ivinhema plants are equipped with high-pressure steam boilers and turbogenerators with the capacity to use all the sugar cane bagasse to generate electricity.
Electricity from the fibrous residue of sugar cane
We produce electricity from one of the by-products of sugar cane processing: bagasse. Our Angélica and Ivinhema plants are equipped with high-pressure steam boilers and turbogenerators with the capacity to use all the sugar cane bagasse to generate electricity. We use part of it in our operations and the surplus is distributed to the National Interconnected System (SIN, Spanish acronym).
Electricity from organic matter
We also produce electricity from cow manure from our dairy farms. We have 2 biodigesters with which we capture methane gas, generate biogas and then convert it into electricity that is fed into the grid.
