Bioelectricity
We generate bioelectricity using by-products from our production processes
1,200,000+ MWh
of renewable energy generated per year
Our Angélica and Ivinhema Mills are equipped with high-pressure steam boilers and turbogenerators with the capacity to use all the sugarcane bagasse to generate electricity.
Electricity from the fibrous residue of sugarcane
We produce electricity from one of the by-products of sugar cane processing: bagasse. Our Angélica and Ivinhema Mills are equipped with high-pressure steam boilers and turbogenerators with the capacity to use all the sugarcane bagasse to generate electricity. We use part of it in our operations and the surplus is distributed to the National Interconnected System (SIN, Spanish acronym).
Electricity from organic matter
We also generate electricity from the manure of our milking cows housed in our freestalls. Using two biodigesters, we capture methane gas, convert it into biogas, and then transform it into electricity, which is fed into the grid.
